ABOUT ME
I am a qualified, BACP Accredited person-centred counsellor and clinical supervisor covering South Manchester and surrounding areas.
My experience has been gained working in a GP surgery as well as in schools and universities, non-profit organisations, and I have been a telephone counsellor in the private sector (EAP).
I also managed a counselling project in a primary school for a nationally recognised children's mental health charity, provided supervision to staff at a pupil referral unit, and worked as a counsellor/Mental Health Practitioner for children and young people in both primary and secondary schools across Greater Manchester, Trafford and Stockport.
I currently work as a clinical supervisor for counsellors/mental health practitioners, school counselling service managers and university counselling trainees, and I work as a counsellor and clinical supervisor in private practice.
As a Registered and Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I have met the strict standards required to be on the accredited register designed to recognise a therapist's capacity for independent, ethical and competent practice.
I offer face to face therapy or can work remotely via the telephone or online via Teams.

MY APPROACH
The type of therapy I offer is person-centred. I deliver non-directive, client-centred support that gradually empowers individuals during challenging life situations and enables them to make informed decisions. My approach also draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), solution-focused techniques, and developments in neuroscience research to bring together different strands of therapeutic thinking to tailor my support to each unique person I work with.
My practice includes, but is not restricted to, working with adults and teens on issues such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship breakdown, stress, and historic abuse. I will work with you at your pace and will only work with what you choose to bring to the sessions.
Together in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment we can explore whatever may be going on for you. I help my clients to find the answer to or acceptance of their individual experience, I work to understand my clients from their point of view, positively valuing them whilst aiming to be open, genuine and at times challenging.
You can talk about any immediate feelings around issues you may currently be having, or events and feelings from the past that you think may have contributed to your present state of mind. I will only work with what you choose to talk about and won't pry into anything you are not willing to discuss.
I help my clients to reconnect with their inner values and sense of self-worth which can lead to greater clarity, a feeling of empowerment and ultimately a happier way of being.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS
I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor and counselling supervisor. Since achieving a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2017, I have continued to participate in regular training and supervision to further develop my practice.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and belong to the BACP Register which is approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. I work within the BACP ethical framework which means that I will practice with your best interests in mind and will support you to the best of my ability, keeping both of us safe. I am fully insured and have a current enhanced DBS check.
Before becoming a practicing counsellor, I began my career as a newspaper journalist, with a BA from The University of Sheffield. My career in journalism ignited a deep appreciation for listening to people, connecting with them and understanding their stories. That path naturally led me to counselling, where I could offer that same presence with empathy and purpose.

MY MOTIVATION
The cause of emotional distress can be unique to each person—whether it's the memory of traumatic events, bereavement, relationship difficulties at home or work, or simply a sense that something isn’t quite right. These experiences can deeply influence our values and how we function in the world.
My motivation to become a therapist stems from knowing how challenging it can be to feel truly heard, understood, and accepted—especially by those closest to us. I’m passionate about offering a safe, compassionate space where clients can talk through whatever they're facing, without fear of criticism or judgement. It’s a place to reflect, process, and make sense of what may be happening emotionally.
Being a counsellor is an ongoing journey of growth—for my clients and for myself. With every conversation, I learn more about the profession, others, and my own inner landscape. I consider it an honour and a privilege to support people as they find clarity and make the most of their lives.
I believe each person has the inner capacity to grow, heal, and create meaningful change. My philosophy is grounded in respecting the uniqueness of each individual—their autonomy, integrity, and ability to shape their own future.
